I’m a reasonably active person and before I was worried my lifestyle would be limited by chronic pain. I now I feel a lot more confident about the future and working with Mary has inspired me to continue exercising to stay fit and healthy.
I have been doing Stretch & Tone Pilates lessons with Mary since January 2013. After about 5 weeks, I noticed I was able to do some of the exercises which I found very hard at the beginning. My stamina has increased. I feel energised for several days after the lesson and it has definitely improved my overall wellbeing and state of mind. I now have more energy, less aches and better state of mind. I am more aware of my posture and my muscle tone is certainly improving.
It is a relaxed, friendly atmosphere with a mix of people. Not at all intimidating. We feel we are in the same boat and can have a laugh when a particular exercise is challenging! Mary pushes us by periodically introducing new exercises to challenge us but allows us to progress at our own pace when needed. I enjoy the concentration needed and being able to block out all other worries and stresses for that hour.
I feel I have done something worthwhile and beneficial for my body at the end of the hour! I feel totally revitalised and energised afterwards. As someone who does not enjoy going to the gym or doing high impact exercise, Pilates suits me really well and I wish I had discovered it sooner. I certainly look forward to each lesson.
I generally follow a healthy diet, so I found my bespoke nutritional plan easy to follow and integrate into family meals. I never felt hungry. In fact I felt lighter and energised.
I had monthly meetings with Mary who charted my progress. Not only was I feeling better, I could see the progress I was making on my analysis chart.
After three months on the programme, I feel better than I have in a long time.
The best thing to come out of this is was that my acid reflux has stopped and I now understand what was causing it and what I need to do to prevent coming back in the future.
As well as this l had put on a lot of weight- a contradiction, l know, but I was not eating well or sensibly. I had also gone through a number of very stressful personal and family matters over the last two or three years. I also had an operation last year and felt that l had not fully recovered from that low spell. All of these culminated in me knowing that l needed to ‘do something’ but l did not know what.
The Kick Start Slimming Programme and Health M.O.T seemed like a good idea and something l had never done before. I had some reservations because it was different to anything I had tried before.
Following the Kick Start Slimming programme, I had a Health M.O.T with Mary and she gave me a bespoke nutritional plan tailored to my individual needs. For me the whole experience has been fantastic. I have lost over 2 stone in weight, but more importantly I feel so well, healthy and much stronger. I have changed my eating habits considerably and surprisingly l do not miss or crave all the ‘damaging’ foods.
Mary has been a wonderful mentor and support in guiding me through the programme, always there at the end of the phone should l need to ask or check anything with her.
I had a course of treatments to get rid of the pain and my Osteopath recommended I try a Pilates session with Mary to help improve my posture. I had 10 private one to one sessions and I haven’t looked back since. I joined the Healthy Back & Joints class, however, I very quickly moved up to the Stretch & Tone class.
I really enjoy the classes and attend at least 2 times per week. The classes are small and Mary is aware of everyone’s issues and takes great care to ensure everyone is working at the right level for them. I no longer feel stiff or suffer with aches & pains. I feel fitter, stronger and have more energy to do all the things that I love to do.
